WHAT IS DUCT TESTING?

Duct testing is the process of checking your heating and air conditioning vents and duct work for leaks. Leaks cause several problems - first it means losing the hot air or cold air from your HVAC unit - translating to lost dollars and lost energy. Second, it can bring in contaminants

and dust from your attic or crawl space, leading to bad air, particulates, or nuisance smells. We measure your duct air leakage and energy efficiency. Leaks can be because of bad installation or can develop over time naturally or from when the Christmas ornaments box smashed a duct in the attic.

WHEN DO I NEED IT?

In California, Title 24 established standards for energy efficiency in homes and has specific guidelines for HVAC systems. Duct testing and certification is part of that standard. Title 24 comes into play when building new homes, when doing certain types of remodeling on your home, or when doing certain upgrades to your HVAC system. See our Title 24 page for more details.

The standards and rules have changed several times and vary by your climate region - so when in doubt, give us a call and we can walk you through the process.

HOW IT WORKS

Our team is certified and has the tools to do all testing to meet Title 24 requirements. Each Rater carries a laptop and calibrated measurement tools. We can do most testing with a single visit and have paperwork produced on location for the quickest and easiest

convenience to homeowners or contractors.
